Marmite and Baked Beans - The Perfect Combination.

Marmite, it seems, has a new favourite food. Just of late he has decided that that British classic, the humble baked bean, will do for him just nicely. I had finished my tea and went off to make a quick cuppa and when I returned to the lounge I found him tucking in. Now to be fair he doesn't actually eat the bean part but he is rather partial to the lovely sauce. It wasn't a one off either as I tried him later that week with some more and he tucked in again.

Last night I had pancetta and mushrooms on toast in balsamic vinegar and the lad was happy to eat both pancetta (with as meat is quite normal for a kitty) as well as the mushrooms. The balsamic vinegar, he said, just added to the flavour cutting through the butter, adding an edge of acidity. Another favourite is spaghetti bolognese and he has had chicken korma too, although he says he could have done with it being a bit spicier!! His brother Twiglet prefers Felix.

Thanks to Lady Bracknell's editor who converted my phone picture onto her pc and e-mailed it back to me.

Marmite Is Art.

An artist has used the format of Marmite to express himself.

Dermot Flynn's work will be displayed at a gallery in London.

Famous faces on the toast include Simon Cowell, Baroness Thatcher, Pete Doherty, Victoria Beckham, Gordon Ramsay, Charlotte Church and James Blunt.

According to the BBC, Mr Flynn chose ten celebritiies for his work entitled, 'Marmart'.
The Marmite art exhibition is at London's Air Gallery until October 28.

They look good enough to eat.

Things I Have Learnt This Week.

  1. Reading the six Man Booker Prize short listed books isn't as much of a chore as I thought it might be.
  2. Most of them aren't actually THAT good either.
  3. My cat Marmite likes baked beans.
  4. Jack Straw should have thought before opening his mouth.
  5. The new BBC1 comedy 'Not Going Out' isn't very funny.
  6. An impacted wisdom tooth really, really, really hurts.
  7. I don't give a toss who the next presenter of 'Countdown' is.
  8. Or that a new series of 'Strictly Come Dancing' is about to begin.
  9. The word for red in Spanish is 'rojo'.
  10. That I should have planned this list before I started because I can only think of nine things.
