World Cup 2006

here are some wicked words from the Linin Park track called in the end. they seem very apropriate tonight.

What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go

We lost Charles.

Still it's only a game. The post was 'written' after 10 minutes of defeat.

Very gutsy performance but we weren't good enough. We had some decent opportunities but weren't clinical enough in front of the onion bag.

Still bye, bye Sven and welcome to a new era. I can't wait ......

PS - I actually like that Linkin Park track !

What new era? Same old, same old as far as I'm concerned. We'll still see Sammy Lee and Ray Clemence on the bench along with McClaren. What is needed is a complete clear out. McClaren's appointment doesn't fill me with optimism at all.

I see David Beckham has resigned as captain.

I don't know enough about football to know if he goofed, but surely there were upwards of eleven of them involved?

Why pack it in? (and you can say the same about Test cricket captain, politicians etc.)

I don't think Beckham was taking the blame but he just feels that it is time for a change. He has been a very good captain for England and he must be praised for that. He never makes any excuses and never ducks an interview. But with a new manager on the way then he is probably making the right decision to stand aside.

"Bollocks" is a hell of a lot more polite than what I said after staying up until 3am, only to see the Aussies go down in the LAST SEVEN SECONDS OF THE BLOODY MATCH!!

I mean new era because of a new manager, with new ideas and his own views on tactics and the best players to the job. I personally will give McClaren a chance as you don't know at this stage, how much his style will differ from Sven.

One thing I will say is that during their tremendous UEFA Cup run McClaren certainly new how to give a half time rollicking to his Middlesboro team !

Notice the FA are pleased with Sven's efforts as England manager !
